ORIOLES ACQUIRE YNOA FROM THE METS
The Baltimore Orioles acquired pitcher Gabriel Ynoa from the New York Mets for cash.
What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
Ynoa is a solid right-hander with the potential to become a viable big-league starter, so this is a decent move by the Orioles at this time. He has trouble striking batters out, though, so he may have trouble pitching in the AL at homer-friendly Camden Yards. Still, Ynoa may compete for a rotation spot this spring.
What does it give the New York Mets
The Mets had a bit of a surplus in terms of starting pitching candidates heading into spring training this year, so they did right by Ynoa and gave him a better opportunity elsewhere. They did not receive much in terms of compensation, so this clearly appears to be a good-will gesture for Ynoa by New York.
Fantasy impact
By moving from the National League, and one of the better pitchers' parks at Citi Field, to the American League and a true homer haven (Oriole Park at Camden Yards), Ynoa's fantasy value (what little there was to begin with) has virtually disappeared.
