BRAVES BRING IN BURGOS FROM D'BACKS

The Atlanta Braves acquired pitcher Enrique Burgos from the Arizona Diamondbacks for cash.

What does it give the Atlanta Braves
The Braves bullpen has struggled this season at a 4.38 ERA clip, so bolstering it is obviously a priority. That said, Burgos doesn't look like a big part of any solution. He has scuffled mightily this season at Triple-A (putting up a dismal 6.23 ERA there) and has not been very effective when given a chance in the majors either (posting a 5.27 career ERA). Then again, Burgos is still fairly young at 26 and has a live arm (82 strikeouts in 68.1 career MLB innings), so perhaps Atlanta has a diamond in the rough here. We'll see.

What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
Regardless of the struggles of closer Fernando Rodney, Arizona's bullpen has mostly been strong so far this season; so with Burgos struggling at Triple-A, he became expendable--especially since the D-Backs have several other promising bullpen arms in the minors (including Silvino Bracho).

Fantasy impact
There's no immediate fantasy impact with this deal. Even if Burgos manages to turn things around in the minors this season for Atlanta, he doesn't look likely to find himself in many (if any) high-leverage situations in the majors anytime soon.
