GIANTS TAKE A CHANCE ON SAM DYSON

The San Francisco Giants acquired pitcher Sam Dyson and cash considerations from the Texas Rangers for a player to be named later (Hunter Cole).

What does it give the San Francisco Giants
This is a good landing spot for Dyson, the former closer of the Rangers. He will not be asked to pitch in the ninth inning as long as Mark Melancon is doing the job in San Francisco, but he could eventually become a late-inning reliever in the bigs again. For now, he needs to find his game and figure things out.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers decided to part ways with their former closer, who was struggling miserably so far in 2017 (17 GP, 1-6, 10.80 ERA, 16.2 IP, 31 hits, 12 BB, 7 K). The sinker specialist is still only 29 years of age, but Texas felt more comfortable moving on at this time. Dyson was part of the Rangers' bad start to 2017.

Fantasy impact
Can Dyson rediscover his mojo? He has a good chance in San Francisco. Keep him on the fantasy radar for the time being, but do not be surprised if he is pitching important innings for the Giants down the stretch.
