BREW CREW ADDS LEFT-HANDER WEBB
The Milwaukee Brewers acquired pitcher Tyler Webb from the New York Yankees for first baseman Garrett Cooper.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers have been surprising contenders in the National League this season, but this trade may be more about the future than today. Webb is a decent left-handed reliever prospect but might not reach Milwaukee until September (when MLB rosters expand).
What does it give the New York Yankees
The Yankees could use more depth at first base, since projected regular Greg Bird has been beset by injuries this season (and Chris Carter did not pan out and was recently designated for assignment for the second time this season). Cooper might advance to MLB soon.
Fantasy impact
Webb and Cooper have sneaky-good fantasy upside, but neither player is a slam dunk at the big-league level. Fantasy leaguers should take a wait-and-see approach on both players, at least until they are in the bigs.
