NESHEK NOW A MEMBER OF THE ROCKIES

The Colorado Rockies acquired pitcher Pat Neshek from the Philadelphia Phillies for infielder Jose Gomez and pitchers JD Hammer and Alejandro Requena.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
In Neshek, the Rockies land a quality, 'situational' right-hander who can come in and get tough right-handed hitters out with regularity. He was enjoying an excellent season with the Phillies (43 G, 1.12 ERA, 28 hits, 5 BB, 45 K in 40.1 IP) and should help Colorado's postseason chances down the stretch. Look for Neshek to help veteran closer Greg Holland.

What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies did very well to secure three prospects in exchange for a 36-year-old reliever acquired for a player to be named later in 2016. Gomez might be the cream of the prospect crop added by Philadelphia, since he is a 20-year-old shortstop with upside. Hammer is also an intriguing prospect, but the 23-year-old right-hander will need more time in the minors to fully develop his arsenal. As for Requena, he is another raw right-hander with long-range upside. This was an excellent deal for the rebuilding Phillies.

Fantasy impact
Neshek's fantasy stock could dip a bit because of the move to Coors Field in Denver (not to mention the fact he will now be pitching in a playoff race, with more pressure). Meanwhile, Gomez, Hammer and Requena should all now be on the long-term fantasy keeper radar.
