BREWERS REACQUIRE RELIEVER JEFFRESS
The Milwaukee Brewers acquired pitcher Jeremy Jeffress from the Texas Rangers for pitcher Tayler Scott.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
Jeffress was good when with Milwaukee in 2015 and 2016, so it makes sense for the Brewers to reacquire the 29-year-old right-hander while they are in the thick of the NL Central division race. He has struggled with Texas this season, but should get a charge from a return to Miller Park and the National League.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
In Scott, the Rangers get a 25-year-old reliever with strikeout ability (but also a penchant for walking too many hitters). He is not a great relief prospect, but probably as good as Texas could have hoped in return for a struggling reliever like Jeffress. The Rangers appear to be waving the white flag on their season.
Fantasy impact
Jeffress should have a nice spike in fantasy stock after moving back to Milwaukee. As for Scott, he has less value as a potential reliever in Texas than he could have had if recalled to the Brewers at some point.
