NATIONALS ACQUIRE RELIEVER KINTZLER

The Washington Nationals acquired pitcher Brandon Kintzler from the Minnesota Twins for pitcher Tyler Watson and international bonus pool money in 2017-18.

What does it give the Washington Nationals
The Nationals already added relievers Sean Doolittle and Ryan Madson to bolster the bullpen, but they felt they needed one more arm to balance things out. Enter Kintzler, who was doing a good job closing for Minnesota this season. Kintzler is a former Brewer who knows the National League well, so he is sure to help.

What does it give the Minnesota Twins
In Watson, the Twins land a 20-year-old left-handed pitching prospect who was enduring an up-and-down 2017 campaign at low Single-A Hagerstown. He has plenty of swing-and-miss ability, but also command issues. He is a solid addition, while the international bonus money will also be put to good use by Minnesota.

Fantasy impact
Kintzler could see a few save chances in D.C. but his overall value takes a small hit after this move (because of Washington's bullpen options now). Watson's keeper value is decent no matter where he ends up, though he needs to become more consistent.
