BECKHAM MOVES FROM THE RAYS TO THE O'S

The Baltimore Orioles acquired infielder Tim Beckham from the Tampa Bay Rays for pitcher Tobias Myers.

What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles decided not to sell closer Zach Britton, and instead added infielder Beckham (a multi-position infielder whose natural position is shortstop). With veteran J.J. Hardy injured again and in stark decline, adding Beckham makes a little sense. He could become a late-blooming star if given a regular job in Baltimore.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays decided to move one of their infielders after acquiring Lucas Duda and Trevor Plouffe recently. While most expected Tampa Bay to deal Brad Miller, they instead shipped out Beckham in order to acquire Myers, an 18-year-old pitching prospect with the potential to become a stud. This is a great addition for Tampa.

Fantasy impact
Both Beckham and Myers have more fantasy value for the future after this trade. Beckham has a chance to become a solid fantasy shortstop in Baltimore, while Myers is a long-range keeper with plenty of fantasy upside.
