BUCS BRING IN BRYCE BRENTZ FROM BOSTON

The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired outfielder Bryce Brentz from the Boston Red Sox for cash.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
Now that Andrew McCutchen is in San Francisco, the Pirates could use a little more outfield depth. Brentz might be able to provide that, albeit as more of a right-handed half of a platoon in left field (or as a bat coming off the bench).

What does it give the Boston Red Sox
There was simply no room at the inn for Brentz in Boston, especially following the acquisition of DH J.D. Martinez. With Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Mookie Betts seemingly entrenched in the outfield, Brentz was expendable.

Fantasy impact
Brentz could be a fantasy dark horse if he manages to earn consistent at-bats against left-handed pitching this season. That said, he is more of a long shot than a sure thing at this point.
