TWINS CAPTURE CAVE FROM THE YANKEES

The Minnesota Twins acquired outfielder Jake Cave from the New York Yankees for pitcher Luis Gil.

What does it give the Minnesota Twins
The Twins could be a nice fit for the 25-year-old Cave, who was buried behind several others with the Yankees. Cave may win a job as a backup outfielder in Minnesota, and might even find himself in the left field mix at some point.

What does it give the New York Yankees
Since Cave had been designated for assignment, the Yankees did exceptionally well here to land a 19-year-old right-hander in Gil. The latter dominated the Dominican Summer League in 2017 (49 K in 41.2 IP). A good deal for both sides.

Fantasy impact
It might be a little too early to pick up Cave but he does offer some fantasy dark horse appeal in 2018. It might also be a little too early to place Gil on the keeper radar but his strikeout ability should not be ignored. Wait for him to perform well in the United States before adding him to your long-range prospects lists.
