RANGERS REEL IN INFIELDER ELIEZER ALVAREZ

The Texas Rangers acquired infielder/outfielder Eliezer Alvarez from the Philadelphia Phillies for cash.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
Alvarez's stock dropped somewhat in 2017 but he is still only 23 years old and can play both middle infield positions, so he stands a decent chance of becoming a utility infielder in Texas (eventually).

What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies had designated Alvarez for assignment recently, so they did well just to get something back in return for his services. He had regressed a bit and was surpassed by better prospects.

Fantasy impact
There is still time for Alvarez to become a fantasy-relevant player but it is not likely to happen for him in 2018. If he eventually gets called up to the Rangers, keep an eye on him.
