TORONTO TRADES FOR PITCHER SAM GAVIGLIO
The Toronto Blue Jays acquired pitcher Sam Gaviglio from the Kansas City Royals for a player to be named later.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
In Gaviglio, the Blue Jays added a decent arm to add some depth to their organization. The 27-year-old right-hander has made 16 appearances in MLB, including 13 starts. Therefore, he stands a better-than-average chance of seeing time in Toronto this season.
What does it give the Kansas City Royals
The Royals had recently designated Gaviglio for assignment, so they were able to parlay him into a future asset (albeit a minor one). He saw a fair amount of time in the big leagues last season but could not secure a permanent spot within the Royals organization.
Fantasy impact
For now, Gaviglio is off the fantasy radar. However, that could change if Toronto has issues with their starting rotation in 2018. That said, he is a fantasy long shot even on his best day.
