BREWERS, METS SWAP HURLERS

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired pitcher Jeremi Gonzalez from the New York Mets for pitcher Mike Adams.

What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
The Mets had designated Gonzalez for assignment the day before this trade, so he was no longer in their plans. However, he could be in the Brewers' plans as a spot-starter, a role he's played with three teams in three seasons. Though he doesn't have great stuff, he can give the Brewers a few innings when they need them.

What does it give the New York Mets
Having dealt setup man Jorge Julio to the Diamondbacks two days earlier, the Mets needed a little help near the top of their bullpen and they hope Adams can do that. His fastball-slider combo can be nasty but he's spent most of this season in the minors, struggling in two appearances with the Brewers. If the Mets' coaching staff can turn him around, they could have a very reliable setup man.
