DODGERS DEAL FOR ARIEL HERNANDEZ

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired pitcher Ariel Hernandez from the Cincinnati Reds for pitcher Zach Neal and first baseman Ibandel Isabel.

What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
For the Dodgers, this deal is all about salvaging the golden right arm of Hernandez, who is still only 26 years old and boasts big-time strikeout potential. For now he will head to Double-A ball, but don't be surprised if he reaches LA in 2018.

What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
The Reds were able to parlay Hernandez (who was recently designated for assignment) into two assets. Neal may not have the same upside as Hernandez, but he throws hard and should be able to help Cincinnati's bullpen at some point this season. As for Isabel, he has some potential as an offensive first baseman and is worth taking a flier on. This trade was a good deal for both sides.

Fantasy impact
Hernandez still has untapped fantasy upside because of his ability to strike batters out. He should be on the keeper radar, though he is too risky to pick up immediately. Isabel is a fantasy long shot, while Neal might become a fantasy factor in Cincy later this season. Keep an eye on him (and the rest of the Reds' bullpen).
