FRANCOEUR TO TEXAS FOR ARIAS
The Texas Rangers acquired outfielder Jeff Francoeur from the New York Mets for infielder Joaquin Arias.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers were looking for another right-handed bat, as well as some injury insurance in the outfield, so Francoeur could be a nice fit. He'll likely come off the bench a lot in September for the playoff-bound Rangers, however.
What does it give the New York Mets
In Arias, the Mets receive a decent utility infielder with a bit of pop in his bat. More importantly, they moved out an outfielder to alleviate the logjam in their outfield. Fernando Martinez should get a lot of at-bats in September as a result of this deal.
