RAYS LAND LEFTY MILNER FROM PHILLIES

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired pitcher Hoby Milner from the Philadelphia Phillies for cash.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays are currently in need of another lefty bullpen specialist due to injuries and other issues currently limiting their other lefties. Milner pitched well for the Phillies last season (posting a 2.01 ERA over 31.1 innings) but he has struggled this season (7.71 ERA over 4.2 IP). Expect Milner to get some situational work with the Rays immediately.

What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies needed room on their 40-man roster to add veteran infielder Trevor Plouffe, so the struggling Milner was designated for assignment recently. That move results in this trade, which brings Philadelphia some cash back. Milner was struggling, so the fact Philly was able to get anything in return is considered a bonus at this point.

Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact as a result of this deal, since the only player involved (Milner) is a little-used bullpen specialist who is unlikely to post many (if any) holds or saves.
