OH ON HIS WAY TO COLORADO
The Colorado Rockies acquired pitcher Seunghwan Oh from the Toronto Blue Jays for first baseman Chad Spanberger, outfielder Forrest Wall and a player to be named later.
What does it give the Colorado Rockies
The Rockies decided to part with three young assets here with the hope of shoring up the bullpen. Oh is a quality setup man who can also close, so he should figure prominently among Colorado relievers for the rest of 2018. Expect the Korean veteran to pitch in the seventh and eighth innings as a setup man for closer Wade Davis for the Rox.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
Toronto did well here to land three assets in exchange for a freshly-turned 36-year-old reliever. Spanberger may be fast-tracked to the Blue Jays if he continues to show great power as he moves up the ranks. Wall has a chance to become a solid center-fielder down the road. The third player headed to Toronto is not yet known. Overall, this is a solid move by the Jays.
Fantasy impact
Oh's short-term stock could rise here, as he is likely to receive more holds chances (and perhaps the odd save opportunity as well). He knows the National League well from his days in St. Louis. Spanberger should now be on the keeper-league radar as the potential first baseman of the future in Toronto, while Wall has some intriguing upside as well.
