SORIA SENT TO THE BREW CREW
The Milwaukee Brewers acquired pitcher Joakim Soria from the Chicago White Sox for pitchers Kodi Medeiros and Wilber Perez.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
In Soria, the Brewers add a quality arm for their bullpen. He was the White Sox' closer but will probably be used in a setup role for Milwaukee. The 34-year-old Mexican right-hander is enjoying a strong 2018 campaign, so he should help the Brew Crew.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
In Medeiros, the White Sox add a quality left-handed pitching prospect with a good arm. He has issues with his control, but still a great addition to the rebuilding Chisox. As for Perez, he is a 20-year-old with a bright future (but a lot of development left in his right arm).
Fantasy impact
Soria's saves should dry up in Milwaukee, but his holds may soar. Overall, his fantasy value is a wash after the trade. Medeiros and Perez are long-range prospects who should now be on the keeper-league radar. Left-hander Jace Fry is probably the biggest winner after this deal, as he may take over as Chicago's closer.
