The Atlanta Braves acquired pitcher Jonny Venters from the Tampa Bay Rays for international bonus pool money in 2018-19.

Venters returns to the Braves after spending parts of the last three seasons in the Tampa Bay organization. The hard-throwing left-hander has been beset by injury throughout most of his career, but can pitch effectively whenever healthy. He adds another strong bullpen arm to Atlanta's stables.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
In exchange for one of their better relievers this season, the Rays receive $250,000 in slot money for the purpose of allocating it towards their international player signings. With Venters gone, look for Jose Alvarado to play a more significant role out of Tampa Bay's bullpen moving forward.
Fantasy impact
Venters' immediate fantasy stock gets a boost moving back to Atlanta, though he will continue to be a high-risk option due to his troubled (and lengthy injury history). Alvarado should also get a boost, as he is now Tampa Bay's No. 1 left-handed option out of the bullpen.
