MOUSTAKAS MOVES TO MILWAUKEE
The Milwaukee Brewers acquired infielder Mike Moustakas from the Kansas City Royals for outfielder Brett Phillips and pitcher Jorge Lopez.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
This is a very intriguing trade for the Brewers, mainly because they already have an everyday, left-handed slugger to play at the hot corner in Travis Shaw. The plan calls for the latter to move to second base to allow Moustakas to take over third base duties for the rest of 2018. This deal makes a potent Milwaukee lineup even better.
What does it give the Kansas City Royals
Instead of opting for longer-range prospects, the Royals accepted two players with MLB experience in Phillips and Lopez in exchange for their starting third baseman. Phillips may become Kansas City's starting center-fielder or right-fielder, while Lopez has a chance to eventually pitch in the late innings for KC.
Fantasy impact
This deal does wonders for Moustakas, Phillips and Lopez, as all three see a huge shift up in their individual fantasy stock. The same cannot be said for Shaw, who must now learn a new position (second base)--which may affect his offense at the plate. Phillips now has keeper value and could be drafted in all leagues for 2019.
