BRAVES DEAL FOR DUVALL

The Atlanta Braves acquired outfielder Adam Duvall from the Cincinnati Reds for pitchers Lucas Sims and Matt Wisler, plus outfielder Preston Tucker.

What does it give the Atlanta Braves
The Braves are in a real battle for the National League East division lead this season, so adding veteran right-handed power bat Duvall here makes sense. While he was Cincinnati's everyday left-fielder for the most part, expect Duvall to play mostly against left-handed pitching in Atlanta.

What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
For the Reds, this deal is about taking chances with two previous top pitching prospects in Sims and Wisler. Neither has performed to expectations to date, but Cincinnati needs all the help they can muster on the mound. Both should get a shot with the Reds at some point in '18. Meanwhile, Tucker adds outfield depth.

Fantasy impact
Duvall's playing time in Atlanta could be limited, so his fantasy stock may take a nosedive for the rest of '18. He may play left field against left-handers, with super-rookie Ronald Acuna Jr. moving from left to center field in place of Ender Inciarte. Therefore, Inciarte is also a big loser (potentially) following this transaction. Sims and Wisler still hold a little sleeper value and should get further MLB opportunities with their new organization. Tucker's fantasy prospects are dim but both Jesse Winker (currently on the DL) and Phillip Ervin should see their outfield stock rise with the Reds with Duvall now in Atlanta.
