CAMERON MAYBIN MOVES TO THE MARINERS

The Seattle Mariners acquired outfielder Cameron Maybin from the Miami Marlins for infielder Bryson Brigman and international bonus pool money in 2018-19.

What does it give the Seattle Mariners
In Maybin, the Mariners add a quality defensive outfielder who becomes their best option in center field (at least until Robinson Cano returns to action, which may bump Dee Gordon back to the outfield). Maybin is an inconsistent hitter, but a sure bet defensively.

What does it give the Miami Marlins
In Brigman, the Marlins are taking a flier on a decent middle infield prospect who profiles best as a utility man in Major League Baseball. Miami also receives some slot money for their international signings this year. Overall, they did well to move Maybin for two assets here.

Fantasy impact
Maybin's stock should rise in Seattle, but he is still a very shaky fantasy pickup for the rest of 2018. Brigman is now on the keeper radar, but take a wait-and-see approach on him before committing to him.
