PHILLY ADDS CATCHER RAMOS FROM THE RAYS

The Philadelphia Phillies acquired catcher Wilson Ramos from the Tampa Bay Rays for a player to be named later.

What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
In Ramos, Philadelphia adds a quality catcher when healthy. Unfortunately, the 30-year-old has missed the last 11 games due to a hamstring injury. Upon his return, look for Ramos to take over from Jorge Alfaro as the Phillies' starting catcher for the rest of 2018.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays decided to trade away their starting catcher here, but the expected return is somewhat light (either a marginal prospect or cash). With Ramos gone, Jesus Sucre and Michael Perez figure to handle catching duties for the rest of '18.

Fantasy impact
Ramos needs to adjust quickly to life back in the NL, but he has experience as Washington's former starting catcher. As long as his hamstring is 100 percent, Ramos should gain added fantasy value down the stretch. As for Sucre and Perez, neither are recommendable fantasy catchers at this time. Alfaro is the clear loser in this transaction, but he maintains keeper-league value.
