DIEKMAN DEALT TO THE DIAMONDBACKS
The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired pitcher Jake Diekman from the Texas Rangers for pitcher Wei-Chieh Huang and a player to be named later.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
Diekman is a quality left-handed, late-inning reliever who should help set up in Arizona. His addition, along with that of Brad Ziegler, should greatly strengthen Arizona's bullpen in their quest to win the National League West division.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
Huang is a versatile right-hander who can start or reliever, though he is more likely to pitch out of the bullpen once he reaches Texas. He has a chance to pitch in MLB next year. The player to be named later may also have some upside.
Fantasy impact
Diekman should see his stock rise significantly moving to Arizona, so he should be picked up in most leagues if he is still available. Huang is now on the fantasy radar but should not be picked up yet. The player to be named later might have some appeal, eventually.
