JAKE THOMPSON TRADED TO MILWAUKEE

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired pitcher Jake Thompson from the Philadelphia Phillies for cash.

What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
In Thompson, the Brewers get a talented arm who has struggled to find himself at the big-league level. Milwaukee hopes he can put things together with them. It is always a good plan to gamble on talent, which Thompson clearly has.

What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies decided to give up on the 24-year-old Thompson, even though he was one of the pieces acquired from Texas in the Cole Hamels trade (2015). He never really panned out with Philadelphia, and a change of scenery was deemed necessary.

Fantasy impact
While he has struggled in MLB, and the Phillies had Thompson pitching out of the bullpen this season, he still has fantasy upside as a big-league starter. Or, he might wind up pitching as a high-leverage reliever. Either way, he is worth keeping an eye on. In very deep leagues, Thompson is still worth a look.
