GIO GONZALEZ GOES TO MILWAUKEE
The Milwaukee Brewers acquired pitcher Gio Gonzalez from the Washington Nationals for infielder Gilbert Lara and catcher KJ Harrison.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers are contenders in the National League this season, but they could have used some more help in the starting rotation. Enter Gonzalez, who is a quality left-hander with plenty of experience. He should be a solid addition for the final month of 2018 (and possibly for the postseason).
What does it give the Washington Nationals
In Lara, the Nationals get a middle infielder with some upside. He is not a great prospect, but is still only 20 years old. Harrison has power from the catching position, so he is also a decent acquisition for Washington (since Gonzalez is likely to explore the free agent market this winter).
Fantasy impact
Gonzalez fantasy owners should be happy with this trade, as he could see a decent fantasy spike in the month of September. Harrison should be on the fantasy radar as a possible keeper-league option due to his power at a premium position. Lara has some work to do to reach the same status but keep an eye on him.
