The New York Yankees acquired infielder Adeiny Hechavarria from the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash.
What does it give the New York Yankees
Veteran shortstop Hechavarria will serve a depth role for the Yankees down the stretch. He is a great defender but not as good with the bat. He is insurance for shortstop Didi Gregorius for the rest of 2018.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates had just acquired Hechavarria earlier in August from Tampa Bay, so he is starting to get used to the moving. Pittsburgh failed to make a run at the NL Wild Card, so they decided to sell here.
Fantasy impact
There is little fantasy impact here, as Hechavarria is a middling offensive player who will come off the bench for New York.
