The Washington Nationals acquired pitcher Kyle Barraclough from the Miami Marlins for international bonus pool money in 2018-19.

In Barraclough, the Nationals add a solid reliever coming off a down year in 2018. The 28-year-old can strike batters out and be used as a setup man, so he should be useful for Washington in 2019.

With the Marlins rebuilding, trading a reliever like Barraclough makes sense at this time. Miami is expected to be very active in the international free agent market, so adding more bonus pool money helps.

Fantasy impact
Barraclough is more likely to pitch in the seventh and eighth innings than the ninth for the Nats in 2019, but he still offers sleeper fantasy appeal. His strikeout totals (136 in 121.2 IP the last 2 seasons) suggest he could make an impact. Keep him in mind late in 2019 drafts.
