LOCKETT LANDS WITH THE TRIBE
The Cleveland Indians acquired pitcher Walker Lockett from the San Diego Padres for pitcher Ignacio Feliz.
What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
The 24-year-old Lockett really struggled in San Diego in 2018 (15 IP, 9.60 ERA) but he is still young enough to bounce back and emerge as a decent big leaguer. He will likely provide organizational depth as a swingman but could earn a spot on the Indians' roster with a strong spring in 2019.
What does it give the San Diego Padres
The Padres moved out a lot of arms for prospects prior to the 40-man roster cutdown deadline, with Feliz being potentially the best prospect acquired on the day. Only 19, Feliz has a live arm but is several years away from the big leagues. Still, he is a nice acquisition in exchange for Lockett here.
Fantasy impact
It is not too early to take a flier on the youthful arm of Feliz in very deep keeper leagues. He is a late-round dark horse at this point. As for Lockett, he should improve with the Indians but has no defined role at present time. Keep an eye on him in spring training.
