RAYS JETTISON JAIME SCHULTZ TO LA

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired pitcher Jaime Schultz from the Tampa Bay Rays for pitcher Caleb Sampen.

What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers are hoping Schultz can find his control with his new club, since he has the stuff to be successful in the big leagues. The 27-year-old right-hander, who can both start or relieve, will likely compete for a bullpen spot in spring training.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays recently designated Schultz for assignment after acquiring reliever Oliver Drake, so they did well here to get back an asset in return. The son of former MLB pitcher Bill Sampen, the 22-year-old right-hander is considered a marginal prospect.

Fantasy impact
Keep an eye on Schultz, as he is now in a very good situation with the Dodgers. If he wins a bullpen job this spring, he could be worth a pickup. As for Sampen, he is a few years away from becoming a candidate to earn a job in MLB.
