TEXAS TRADES FOR OUTFIELDER GRANITE

The Texas Rangers acquired outfielder Zack Granite from the Minnesota Twins for pitcher Xavier Moore and cash.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
Granite is versatile in the outfield (he can play all three positions), and he swings from the left side of the plate. Therefore, he stands a good chance of breaking camp with Texas and serving as an extra outfielder off the bench. Now 26 years old, Granite should view this opportunity with the Rangers as a last chance to prove himself at the big-league level.

What does it give the Minnesota Twins
The Twins recently designated Granite for assignment, so they did well here to land two assets for him. The cash will come in handy, since the club re-signed a few of their younger players earlier this year. As for Moore, he is a bullpen arm who may or may not remain in the organization. Minnesota could move him again and reports suggest Baltimore is interested.

Fantasy impact
Granite is a pure hitter for average and has done very well at the minor-league level. However, he does not profile as an everyday player in MLB, so he can be safely ignored in most fantasy league formats for the time being.
