YANKEES TRADE FOR TAUCHMAN

The New York Yankees acquired outfielder Mike Tauchman from the Colorado Rockies for pitcher Phillip Diehl.

What does it give the New York Yankees
For the Yankees, this trade was made to add a little outfield depth and more defense. Tauchman will likely serve a role in the later innings as a defensive replacement at all three outfield positions. He will probably not receive a lot of at-bats unless injuries become a major factor in New York's outfield this season.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
The Rockies had several other options this year and felt comfortable trading away backup outfielder Tauchman before the start of the regular season. He appeared in 52 games for Colorado the last two seasons but failed to impress as a hitter. In Diehl, the Rockies land a left-handed reliever with a little bit of upside.

Fantasy impact
Tauchman has little fantasy value, as he is unlikely to start many games for the Yankees (and he is not guaranteed of sticking on the 25-man roster throughout 2019). Diehl might become a factor in Colorado's bullpen in 2020, but is unlikely to be ready to make the jump to MLB this year.
