SWISHER TO THE PALE HOSE

The Chicago White Sox acquired outfielder Nick Swisher from the Oakland Athletics for outfielder Ryan Sweeney and pitchers Gio Gonzalez and Fautino De Los Santos.

What does it give the Chicago White Sox
Swisher adds more meat to the White Sox batting order, as well as a quality switch-hitter with plenty of versatility. He may play center field in Chicago, since the team has no regular at the position. Otherwise, he'll likely wind up in left field. With Paul Konerko entrenched at first base, Swisher's infield days are likely numbered.

What does it give the Oakland Athletics
The A's are in complete rebuilding mode this off-season, so it's no wonder they decided to move arguably their best player. In Gonzalez, they get one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball...and a candidate to jump from Double-A to the bigs in 2008. Sweeney may replace Swisher in left field, though he may need a little more seasoning in Triple-A. As for De Los Santos, he's another quality arm but he will need time to fully develop.
