BREWERS BRING IN CATCHER FREITAS
The Milwaukee Brewers acquired catcher David Freitas from the Seattle Mariners for pitcher Sal Biasi.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
In Freitas, the Brewers land a depth catcher who might get recalled to Milwaukee at some point in 2019 if injuries occur to either starting catcher Yasmani Grandal or backup Manny Pina. Otherwise, he will spend his time at Triple-A San Antonio.
What does it give the Seattle Mariners
The Mariners had optioned Freitas down to Triple-A Tacoma after the third game of the season, so clearly they were ready to move on from the 30-year-old journeyman catcher. In Biasi, the Mariners add a reliever with very limited upside.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact whatsoever here, as Freitas will remain in the minors for the foreseeable future and Biasi is just a depth reliever. Tom Murphy will continue to back up Omar Narvaez behind the dish in Seattle.
