SWIHART SENT TO THE DIAMONDBACKS

The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired catcher Blake Swihart and international bonus pool money in 2018-19 from the Boston Red Sox for outfielder Marcus Wilson.

What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
A catcher by trade, Swihart is expected to serve a utility role with the Diamondbacks. He can play the corner outfield positions as well as the corner infield positions. Arizona will try to maximize his versatility in order to get his switch-hitting bat in the lineup. They are not expected to use Swihart as a catcher (for now).

What does it give the Boston Red Sox
For the Red Sox, getting two assets for a player they recently designated for assignment is job well done. In Wilson, the BoSox land an athletic but underachieving outfielder who may still have time to develop into a big leaguer. As an added bonus, the Red Sox received more money to spend on international free agents.

Fantasy impact
Swihart may have some fantasy value left now that he has been moved to a team that seems committed to utilizing him. Wilson is off he fantasy keeper radar until further notice.
