METS MAKE A MOVE FOR FONT
The New Yok Mets acquired pitcher Wilmer Font from the Tampa Bay Rays for cash or a player to be named later.
What does it give the New York Mets
With two starters currently injured (Steven Matz and Jason Vargas), the Mets needed some help for their pitching staff. Font can be used as a reliever but also has starting experience in MLB. He is a short-term addition.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays parted ways with the 28-year-old Font after he posted a 5.79 earned-run average in 10 appearances this season. He did not make any starts for Tampa Bay in 2019 but did start five games for them last season.
Fantasy impact
Font has versatility, and he can strike batters out, but he must first become a regular member of the Mets before his fantasy stock is reignited. Keep an eye on Font as a Met.
