MORALES MOVES TO THE BRONX

The New York Yankees acquired designated hitter/first baseman Kendrys Morales from the Oakland Athletics for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

What does it give the New York Yankees
This is a short-term move by the Yankees, since Morales can fill in at DH while Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, Miguel Andujar, Gary Sanchez and Greg Bird all remain out of the lineup. Once some of the walking wounded return to action in the Bronx, Morales may not keep his roster spot.

What does it give the Oakland Athletics
Oakland had acquired Morales as a short-term move themselves in late March when first baseman Matt Olson needed hand surgery after being injured in Japan against Seattle to open 2019. So, the A's were never expected to keep Morales throughout the season. They got back a future asset in return.

Fantasy impact
Morales may see a slight spike in short-term fantasy value moving from Oakland to the Bronx, but he is not a recommended pickup because his stay with the Yankees may be too brief.
