BRUCE BROUGHT IN BY PHILADELPHIA

The Philadelphia Phillies acquired outfielder Jay Bruce and cash from the Seattle Mariners for infielder Jake Scheiner.

What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies are ravaged with outfield injuries and issues right now, so bringing in veteran Bruce makes sense here. Furthermore, the Mariners sent Philadelphia around $18 million (reportedly) to cover some of Bruce's remaining salary, which runs through 2020.

What does it give the Seattle Mariners
In Scheiner, the Mariners land a third baseman from the 2017 MLB draft class (fourth round). He turns 24 in August and has yet to play above high Single-A ball. Scheiner is a long shot. Seattle also dumped some of Bruce's salary in this transaction.

Fantasy impact
For the short term, Bruce could benefit from the move from Seattle to Philadelphia. He is expected to see regular action in left field for the Phillies (until the likes of Andrew McCutchen and Odubel Herrera return from injury and personal issues, respectively). Pick Bruce up if he is available.
