TORONTO TRADES FOR PITCHER KINGHAM
The Toronto Blue Jays acquired pitcher Nick Kingham from the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays are rebuilding and need more young arms in the system. While Kingham is going to turn 28 in November, he still has some untapped MLB upside (either as a starter or reliever). For now, Kingham will likely be used as a starter at Triple-A Buffalo.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates recently designated Kingham for assignment and gave up on the towering right-hander after a brutal stretch (14 GP, 4 starts, 1-1, 9.61 ERA). The Bucs had high hopes for Kingham but he failed to deliver. A change of scenery was needed for all parties concerned.
Fantasy impact
For now, Kingham can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats. If he begins to show signs of life down on the farm, he might get the call to Toronto before the end of 2019.
