JAYS PICK UP EVELAND FROM A'S

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired pitcher Dana Eveland from the Oakland Athletics for cash.

What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
With all the uncertainty surrounding Toronto's starting rotation for 2010 (because of youth and injuries), Eveland could prove to be useful. He showed in 2008 with Oakland he can be a solid starter and/or long man (but had an awful 2009).

What does it give the Oakland Athletics
Obviously, this is a way of cutting salary for the cost-conscious A's, who already have several young starter candidates more promising than Eveland vying for jobs this spring. So, they accepted a cash deal here.
