The Cleveland Indians acquired infielder/outfielder Andrew Velazquez from the Tampa Bay Rays for international bonus pool money in 2019-20.
What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
The Indians are taking a flier on the 24-year-old Velazquez (he turns 25 later this month). He is a versatile bench player who may eventually serve the role of utility man for Cleveland. For now he will head to Triple-A Columbus.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays were able to secure a little more money for international signings with this trade. Velazquez spent some time in MLB this year but was not really needed due to Tampa Bay's depth in versatile infielders.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact to speak of here, as Velazquez does not have enough offensive weapons to play every day in Major League Baseball.
