The Seattle Mariners acquired pitcher Matt Wisler from the San Diego Padres for cash.
What does it give the Seattle Mariners
In Wisler, the Mariners get a 26-year-old right-hander who used to be a starting pitching prospect but is now a full-time reliever (presumably). There may still be some untapped upside here. Seattle is counting on it.
What does it give the San Diego Padres
The Padres recently designated Wisler for assignment, so they were at least able to get some money back from the Mariners in letting him go. In 21 appearances with San Diego, Wisler struggled (2-2, 5.28 ERA).
Fantasy impact
Wisler does not have a lot of fantasy value at present time. Keep an eye on him, though. He has the stuff to become a factor at some point.
