DANIEL HUDSON HEADS TO DC
The Washington Nationals acquired pitcher Daniel Hudson from the Toronto Blue Jays for pitcher Kyle Johnston.
What does it give the Washington Nationals
The Nationals have struggled in the bullpen this season, so it makes sense that they have added Hudson here. The 32-year-old right-hander has pitched well for Toronto this season, so look for him to log high-leverage innings for Washington down the stretch.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
With the Blue Jays clearly in rebuilding mode, it makes sense for them to maximize their tradeable assets like reliever Hudson. In the 23-year-old Johnston, the Jays get a diminutive right-hander with starting experience at high Single-A ball. He is a pretty decent return here.
Fantasy impact
Hudson will probably serve as one of Sean Doolittle's new setup men in Washington, so his fantasy value holds firm but does not spike a lot. Johnston heads to a pitching-starved organization in Toronto, so he should now be on the fantasy keeper radar.
