RAYS, MARLINS SWAP FOUR ASSETS

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired pitchers Trevor Richards and Nick Anderson from the Miami Marlins for pitcher Ryne Stanek and outfielder Jesus Sanchez.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
On the surface, this looks like a deal that may help all parties involved, both individually and from a team perspective. Richards has starting experience but can also pitch out of the bullpen, so he may used as a bulk reliever in Tampa Bay. Anderson can pitch in the late innings, so he gives the Rays another option for higher-leverage situations.

What does it give the Miami Marlins
In Stanek, the Marlins get a quality reliever who was performing well as an opener for the Rays. With Miami, Stanek could become the team's next closer (especially if he gets back to 100 percent health before the end of 2019). Meanwhile, Sanchez is a pretty good outfield prospect who may advance more quickly in Miami's system. He has all the tools.

Fantasy impact
Stanek and Sanchez have the most fantasy upside of this group of four players, while Richards and Anderson should help Tampa Bay a lot more to win real baseball games down the stretch. Both Stanek and Sanchez should be picked up if available, regardless of league format. Take a wait-and-see approach with the two new Rays.
