PADRES, CUBS SWAP RELIEVERS

The San Diego Padres acquired pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. from the Chicago Cubs for pitcher Brad Wieck.

What does it give the San Diego Padres
The Padres get Edwards Jr, a right-hander whose career has stagnated recently. He should be able to bounce back in San Diego, since he does not turn 28 until early September. For now, he will likely remain at Triple-A ball.

What does it give the Chicago Cubs
Wieck is just over a month younger than Edwards Jr., and his career has also flattened out. Therefore, a change of scenery may work wonders for both relievers. Expect to see lefty Wieck in Chicago before the end of 2019.

Fantasy impact
Neither reliever is a recommended fantasy pickup at this time, but both have the talent to change their situations. Keep an eye on both.
