In the 29-year-old Markel, the Angels land a journeyman right-hander who can be an effective reliever when he throws strikes. He will probably battle for a bullpen job next spring.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates decided to part ways with Markel after he made just 15 relief appearances with them in 2019. He displayed some ability but was also quite wild.

There is no fantasy impact here, as Markel is a 50/50 proposition in terms of pitching regularly in MLB in 2020.
