CHASE ANDERSON ADDED BY TORONTO
The Toronto Blue Jays acquired pitcher Chase Anderson from the Milwaukee Brewers for first baseman Chad Spanberger.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
With the Blue Jays currently looking for warm bodies for their starting rotation, it makes sense that they were able to add Anderson to the mix here. Anderson, who turns 32 at the end of the month, is likely not going to be the only pitcher added by Toronto this off-season but he should be able to earn a job in the rotation next spring.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers were expected to decline the option for 2020 on Anderson's contract ($8.5 million), so they did well here to get back an asset for his services. Spanberger, 24, was at Double-A ball in 2019 and is considered a somewhat limited prospect. That said, Milwaukee is currently very thin at first base.
Fantasy impact
While Anderson is expected to spend much of 2020 in Toronto's starting rotation (pending several more pitcher acquisitions), his fantasy value remains fairly limited. As for Spanberger, keep an eye on both his progress in spring training next year as well as Milwaukee's winter moves for the first base position.
