SANDY LEON LANDS IN CLEVELAND
The Cleveland Indians acquired catcher Sandy Leon from the Boston Red Sox for pitcher Adenys Bautista.
What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
In Leon, the Indians get a savvy catcher who has excellent defensive credentials and leadership skills. He is not much of a hitter, though, so look for Leon to serve as a backup to Roberto Perez in 2020.
What does it give the Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox were expected to non-tender Leon, so they did well to land a future asset in exchange for his services. Bautista is a 21-year-old Dominican right-hander with very modest upside as a big-league reliever.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as Leon is a defensive catcher and Bautista has yet to pitch above Rookie ball as a professional.
