ANDRIESE ADDED BY THE ANGELS
The Los Angeles Angels acquired pitcher Matt Andriese from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Jeremy Beasley.
What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
Andriese is a versatile pitcher who has had some success in the big leagues. He has appeared in 167 games in MLB, 49 of which were starts. The Angels will try the 30-year-old Andriese as a starting pitcher in spring training, though he is expected to serve as a long man out of the bullpen in 2020.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks dealt Andriese away in what seems like a move designed to free up a spot on the 40-man roster. In Beasley, the D'backs add a marginal prospect who can both start and relieve. Expect the 24-year-old Beasley to pitch at Triple-A Reno in 2020. He is merely organizational depth at this point.
Fantasy impact
Neither Andriese nor Beasley offers much in the way of fantasy upside, though Andriese should be on the 2020 in-season pickup radar. He has some strikeout ability and can both start and relieve, which adds value.
