MARTE MOVED TO THE D'BACKS

The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired outfielder Starling Marte and cash from the Pittsburgh Pirates for infielder Liover Peguero, pitcher Brennan Malone and international bonus pool money in 2019-20.

What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
In Marte, the Diamondbacks add a toolsy center-fielder who should provide both power and speed to the lineup. His contract is worth $11.5 million for 2020 and Arizona inherits a club option for 2021 worth $12.5 million. However, the Pirates reportedly agreed to pay $1.5 million to the D'backs as added compensation in order to complete this trade.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates were rumored to be shopping the 31-year-old Marte for some time now, so they were finally able to get a deal done with Arizona. Peguero is a 19-year-old middle infielder who is very raw but displays some upside. Malone is also 19 and was the 33rd overall selection in the 2019 MLB draft. The Bucs are also supposedly getting $250,000 in bonus money.

Fantasy impact
Marte could see a spike in his overall fantasy value with the move from Pittsburgh to Arizona. Malone's stock should also improve, although his value is strictly for keeper leagues at this point. Peguero remains steady at this point. Marte could be an early draft candidate in keeper leagues and a mid-round option in year-to-year formats. Malone has late-round appeal in deep keeper leagues.
